Steps Involved in New York’s Apostille Process
In accordance with the 1961 Hague Convention Treaty, birth certificates, death certificates, background checks and other notable legal documents must meet with the Apostille guidelines laid out by the treaty. Documents must be sealed and authenticated by appropriate persons and measures.
Step 1
Each legal document intended to be Apostilled for Spain, must first pass through the hands of a qualified notary public for the county in which the documents are to be Apostilled in.

Step 2
Once properly notarized, each document must be certified by the county clerk in the same county as the licensed notary public.

Step 3
Finally, the document must be handed over to the Department of State Apostille. A processing fee is garnered at this time through the New York Department of State where the application will be presented.
