The Hague Convention of 1961 or the Apostille Treaty abolished the legalization requirement of foreign public documents for legal use in all the nations that have signed the Hague Convention. The treaty also standardized the process outlining specific methods: a legal document from one member country notarized by a notary public, then certified with a conformant apostille, is legally authorized for use in all other member countries.
The Hague Convention of 1961 or the Apostille Treaty provides for the much-simplified certification of public documents, including international Apostille Birth Certificate NYC service documents, for use in countries that have joined the Convention. Documents destined for use in participating countries and territories should be certified by one of the officials in the jurisdiction where the document was executed.
