What Is An Apostille?

An Apostille is a certificate authenticating a public document issued by the state secretary. It is honored in any of the 117 Hague Apostille member countries which are party to the treaty, including the United States of America.

Hague Apostille Members

Listed below are the 117 active members of the Hague Treaty Convention 12, thus enforced within the US.

Why do you need a New York Apostille for Djibouti?

Since Djibouti is an active member of the Hague Convention, any official document for this country only requires an Apostille with a stamp from the Secretary of State from a country member, as well. So a diplomatic authentication of consular legalization is no longer required if you are planning to relocate to Djibouti.

Three steps in securing a New York Apostille for use in Djibouti:

Step 1. Notarization:

You need your documents to get notarized first before getting them apostilled. A certified notary public should do this to ensure the validity of your document and help reduce the risk of fraud.

Step 2. County Clerk Authentication:

Authentication follows and must be done in the same county as the notary who performed your document notarization.

Step 3. Department of State Apostille:

The final step is to fill -up an application form with the appropriate documents attached. Your documents must have been authenticated by the county clerk. A fee and the Issuance of your Apostille by The New York State Department of State will complete the process.

About Djibouti

A small country strategically located in the northeast coast of the Horn of Africa. Formerly named Somaliland and the French Territory of the Afars and Isaas. Djibouti got its name when it gained independence from France in 1977. Djibouti’s capital, Djibouti City, is erected on coral reefs which extends into the southern entry of the gulf.

The terrain of Djibouti is simply diverse and extraordinary. From rugged mountains to desert plains there is no doubt why it is internationally recognized as a geologic treasure trove. There are two seasons in the country, the cool season which is from October to April and the Mediterranean climate which ranges from 70s to mid 80s F.

As they say, “big things come in small packages,” and Djibouti definitely fits this description. With various landscapes such as volcanoes, salt lakes, plateaus, grand canyons and so much more. Here are a few places that you may want to know about:

Doralé and Khor Ambado

These two amazing beaches are bordered with black lava cliffs which is an amazing local tourist spot. The beach also offers a number of water sports.to visitors.

Tropical Aquarium

One of the country’s top tourist destinations. The Tropical Aquarium is actually considered one of the best in all of Africa. The underwater ecosystem is perfectly restored which makes the experience a bit more exciting!

Tadjoura

One of the oldest towns on the east coast of Africa which dates back to the 12th century. Usually called La Ville Blanche, or White Town, due to the many beautiful whitewashed houses. A wonderful town for leisure walks as there are many amazing views of the waterfront. There are a number of nice mosques and the atmosphere gives a relaxing vibe which is a less chaotic version of Djibouti City.
